The Look Inside Feature Has Been Added To "Someone Else's Boyfriend"

Amazon has finally added the "Look Inside" feature to my first story, "Someone Else's Boyfriend". It also added the page count, which is nothing huge at 12 pages, but I am happy they did it so no one will possibly buy the story under the pretense it's longer than it is.

Parody - The First Sign Of Mainstream

Funny or Die's recent video "50 Shades of Blue", which is a parody of "50 Shades of Grey" was worth sharing if for nothing else it shows how close the book has brought erotica to the mainstream.

When I first discovered erotica there were two sources of it in my town, finding it at an adult book store (which in my town meant porn shop) in cheaply put together booklets that were under the porn magazines. And at times would have the wrong book bound inside of it. Or at the one used book store that carried a small amount and meant having the guys to take it up to the cashier.

With the advent of the ebook anyone can read erotica without the feeling of going to a "skeezy place" or having to risk people finding out what you read. A source of discomfort to many.

And if you're are a parent, let me tell you a little secret from a former teenager. I don't care where you hide your dirty materials (erotica, porn mags, video's or whatever), be it in a file cabinet, a box in your closet, or wherever you think the kids won't find it, they will find it.

They will one day get curious and browse your stuff and find whatever carefully laid out hiding place you have. You lock it in your office they will find the key, or steal it in the middle of the night. They will check your office every day to see if that is the day you forgot to lock it, they will go through your closet when you leave it home alone and carefully put it back afterwards. They are resourceful, and a resourceful kid who just hit puberty can do anything.

But with an ebook you don't have that issue. Under anonymity you can read anything and no one will know, you're kindle doesn't judge you.

As such there has been an steady increase in readers of erotica, and the 50 Shades phenomenon has shown that. Especially among women who tended to the the group most reluctant to step in front of a cashier with a book like that.

But this parody truly surprised me. Not because it was funny, or even because a former Disney star was in it. But because something like this shows a scope that the book is in america's consciousness. There is even word of a movie in the work, with several well known actors and actresses coveting the role.

Erotica is clearly never going to die out, as it is older than any of us. However, it'll be interesting to see if this is the start of a new long term rise of popularity, or a short lived fad. I for one am very curious to find out myself what the future holds.

Indecently, when teen girls say that the reason people make fun of Justin Beiber is that they are "jealous of him" all I got to say is this. I could care less one way or another about a singer kids like to listen to today. But when I found out Selena Gomez (the girl starring in this video) was dating Justin Bieber, it gave me the only real reason anyone should be jealous of him.

My First Story Is Up On Amazon

My first self-published short story "Someone Else's Boyfriend" went live on Amazon yesterday.

It is currently only available for the Kindle, although once I get some more stories under my belt I may publish a physical compilation book. I doubt it would sell as well as an online book in this day and age but it would be cool to have one I could put on my bookshelf and others would buy and would be out there possibly even after I left this mortal coil.

Here's  the description from Amazon for the story

Joanna tried to be a good and studious college student, she really did. But obstacles kept getting in the way. Which included her most recent one, her roommates attractive boyfriend.

Luckily for her fellow student Wyatt, she lacked the resolve not to act on her attraction. Which was unlucky for Joanna's roommate.
Story Length: Approximately 3,300 words

The story is available from Amazon and you can purchase it by CLICKING HERE!

I hope my readers will give it a try and let me know what they think, good or bad. Although hopefully they will have good things to say, but I always welcome creative criticism. It's the only way I'll get better.

Welcome To The Blog

Greetings readers, fellow writers, or anyone else who found their way here,

My name is Taylor Knight (actually, it really isn't. But given my choice of erotic fiction I felt it best to chose a pen name.) and I am a brand new writer of erotic fiction.

I say brand new because I recently self published my first erotic story on Amazon. I will give the full story of how I found myself on that path in a later blog post. But in short doing so has helped fulfill a life long dream I had.

I don't know yet if I am any good. I guess that is something that will be left to the critics and my future readers. But I do know that fail or succeed at least I did it, and when I look back on my life in the future that will be the part that I will now never be able to have any regrets over. And as I have learned in my still relatively short time on this earth, life truly is too short to have any regrets.

I will be updating this blog regularly with announcements of my new stories, thoughts on this genre I am encountering, on the somewhat risky decision to become a male writer in a field where both the writers and readers are predominantly female, and whatever else crosses my mind.

I hope you wonderful people who took the time to visit this blog will come back. I also hope that some of you will stay and we can take this journey together. I don't know where it will lead, but I suspect it will be a memorable ride.
